BIOGRAPHY

Andrew Gordon is a partner at Goff Voltin, PLLC, where his practice focuses on criminal defense and appeals. Before entering private practice, Andrew spent more than fourteen years as a public defender, representing clients charged with offenses ranging from misdemeanors to the most serious felonies.

Andrew has extensive courtroom and trial experience. He has tried dozens of cases before juries and has secured numerous acquittals, including a not-guilty verdict in a first-degree murder case. He represented thousands of clients charged with offenses spanning the full spectrum of Virginia criminal law, in which a client’s liberty, reputation, and future are all at stake. That experience shapes his approach to every case: prepare it from the beginning as though it may ultimately be tried to a jury.

Andrew’s practice is grounded in a longstanding commitment to representing people who are often misunderstood, marginalized, or facing the government at the most difficult moment of their lives. He believes effective criminal defense requires both relentless advocacy and the ability to understand a client as a whole person, not simply as a charge on a docket.

In addition to his law practice, Andrew serves as an adjunct professor at William & Mary Law School, where he designed and teaches a course focused on representing vulnerable populations in criminal defense. He has taught and trained attorneys through Virginia’s public defense community. He also served as President of the I’Anson-Hoffman Inn of Court from 2026-2027.

Andrew earned both his undergraduate degree and his law degree from William & Mary. He brings to Goff Voltin the perspective of a career trial lawyer, an educator, and an advocate who has spent his entire professional life in the courtroom.
